Intro to Picassiette

In this introductory Picassiette mosaic class taught by mosaic artist Amy Neiman, students will learn how to transform ceramic dishes into expressive mosaic designs. You will learn how to break plates safely and efficiently, what tools work best for cutting them, and to understand how different ceramics behave — not always easily or predictably!
The variety of colors, patterns, styles and thicknesses inherent in ceramics is what makes using them both fun and challenging. Students will get design tips, learn considerations for materials with different thicknesses, and which adhesives work best for different substrates.
You will leave with a completed 12” X 12” indoor mosaic piece rigged for hanging, and some new skills to add to your mosaic toolbox.
All tools and materials included, but feel free to bring any plates you’d like to incorporate in your piece or share with others.
